This week has been a blast.  The “BYOT” forms were available for pick up and so far a lot of people have brought in items.  Anne, Noah, and I all brought our Kindles and I have seen a few iPods and laptops too.  Daniel also brought in his iPad  Acolyting has started for the 8th graders and it looks easy from my view.  I am in Spanish class with my amigos and amigas Jackson, Taylor, Kyle, and Anne.  My Spanish name is Marcos.  Luke and I have also started Kindergarten Helpers, and it is a great opportunity to learn responsibility.   I hope the school year is smooth sailing from here.

The first two weeks of school have been exiting. We’ve watched very interesting videos in Confirmation class about the Bible. We also received interleaved catechisms to take notes in. We have a new P.E. teacher at Immanuel this year. For our first PE unit we are playing soccer. I played in a soccer league when I was in first grade, and now I remember why I quit!   We have already had to write a paper in health about a classmate’s health. I wrote mine about Kristen. In Literature we read a suspenseful story that ended with the climax. It’s like a never ending story! It was about a boy, an elevator, and a fat lady. I wish I knew how it ended. Algebra is starting out fairly easy. We are working on solving equations. We did not have English this past week because we were taking our fall NWEA tests. I haven’t finished with the math part for this assessment. I’m on problem 17 out of 52. The questions get harder as I answer more of them right; mine are pretty difficult.     In Science class we have new books this year that we can write in. Yay! The online activities are fun as well helpful with the flash cards and interactive videos. In History we are shipping supplies to Marines for the “Any Soldier” program. I have written 6 letters and have sent in money to help with shipping costs. We can also send in items such as cards or powdered Gatorade. In Spanish we have to say our Spanish alphabet by September 14th. I have already said mine. We can also do extra credit in choir. All we have to do is listen to a piece of music by Adam Copland.
It is fun to be in eighth grade.   We have new shirts that have the outline of ’12 on the back with our names written inside of the outline. We wore them to our first pep assembly of the new school year. At the pep assembly the eighth grade volleyball players played the teachers. We beat them! I’m having fun at school but I’m sort of sad summer is over.

"With the Lord Begin Your Task!"  We thank God for the beginning of a new school year, and ask His continued blessings as we face the excitement and challenges of another year of learning.
The past seven school days have just flown by! It’s been challenging for teachers and students alike to hang up our flip flops, set our alarm clocks, and adapt to the ‘school in session’ schedule, but I know that I’ve certainly enjoyed seeing all our Immanuel junior high students again!  Classes are off to a great start; Immanuel athletics are underway, and classmates are reconnecting and encouraging one another. I’m thankful that my 8F homeroom is full of happy, helpful young men and women, and I’m anxious to have them post blogs about their days in the junior high at Immanuel. (Later, we’ll invite other ILS junior high students to blog on the page too!)
                                          Happy Reading!
