What We Are Learning This Week

September 28-October 2

Jesus Time: God continues to use His people and calls them to service in some extraordinary ways. Moses is saved as a baby in a basket, called to serve by a burning bush, and then given the task of setting God's people free from slavery. Please discuss with your child ways in which they can be leaders in the classroom.

Memory Words: For thine is the kingdom, and the power, and glory forever and ever. Amen.

Language Arts:

  1. Phonics: Letter Hh
  2. Handwriting: Uppercase and lowercase h and writing our name using proper case.
  3. Pre-Decodable- Colors
  4. Comprehension: Using a nonfiction text, we will be able to identify main ideas and details asking these questions: What does it do?, What is it?, What does it have?, and What can it do?
  5. Writing:

Math: It is now time to apply our learning to numbers 1-10. We will write, compare, and order these numbers. Next up is the TEENs.

Science: We will look at how weather affects the seasons. For each season we will read a nonfiction text using our literary skills to find the main idea and details. We will record this information into our Science journal. There may even be some seasonal art work taking place!

Red Words

This will be an ongoing list of Red Words, sometimes called Sight Words or High-Fluency Words. We will learn the words in class using multi-sensory approaches. I encourage you to build fluency by using the list I provided to practice daily. This can be found in the red reading folder. Also, when reading books to your child, stop at these words, pointing to them, and have your child read them.
