Weekly Learning

Week of October 5th:

Jesus Time: Passover/10 Commandmants. Please review these stories at home with your child.

We will finish up memory work by reviewing the entire Lord's Prayer.

Language Arts:

  1. Phonics: T, t.
  2. Handwriting: T, t
  3. Pre-Decodable: Shapes
  4. Reader: nothing this week
  5. Reading Comprehension: We are discussing how readers recall information that they have read. You can practice this by reading a story together and then recalling details by asking your child questions about the story.
  6. Writing: This week we will continue to learn about nouns. You can help your child identify person, place, or things while doing pretty much any activity. This can be fun in a car ride or at the store as well! We will continue noun work until fall break.

Math: Our focus this week is still comparing numbers 0-10. We are working on greater than, less than, and equal.

Science: We will finish up extreme weather and have some fun extra topics: fire safety and pumpkins.

Please continue to practice the skills we are focusing on each week at home with your child. Practice makes perfect.

Red Words

I will keep a growing list of our red words here. These are words that do not follow typical letter sounds and will need to be memorized. We practice frequently in class, but I encourage you to practice these words daily at home to encourage fluency. Making flash cards is a good system to practice this skill.
