Religion

Our Bible account for this week will be about the Apostle Paul and his shipwreck experience.  God was with Paul during this time and had a plan for Paul's witness and survival.   God also has a plan for each of us.   I look forward to watching His plans for your children unfold as they move ahead through Immanuel and beyond.

Chapel offerings for this month are designated to Lutheran World Relief to help in sharing God's love around the world.

Language Arts

This week we will be working with the high frequency words 'went' and 'must'.   We will be reading two books 'A Big Bike' and 'Pine Lake' which continue to help us work on words with the magic e and long vowel sound.

We will be reading books to compare texts, looking for similarities in characters, settings and plot.  We will also introduce a first grade concept in open and closed syllables for example  Open with a long vowel...she, Closed with a short vowel. ...shed.

Math

Our math lessons in measurement finish up this week with telling time using a calendar and preparing for our NWEA test taking place next week.   We have enjoyed measuring, thanks for your work at home on this too.

Science/Social Studies

We said good-bye to our butterflies on Tuesday.  They all few off into God's world.   We had a very successful experience with them this year.   I hope you were able to learn about our learning from the journals that came home on Tuesday.

We have enjoyed building boats... some floated and some did not so this provided a good learning experience for us.

This coming week we will be building bridges and hide-outs.  We have been working with a partner for our projects so communication and team work skills are also in play with these projects.

Memory

Be strong and courageous... God is with you wherever you go.  Joshua 1:9
